Classroom and on-site training on a range of technical areas during first visit of Bethlehem operator to Barcelona.

The Framework of Cooperation between BCASA (Barcelona) and WSSA (Bethlehem-Biet Jala-Biet Sahour, Palestine) was signed in 2015 during the 3rd Global WOPs Congress, and focusses on increasing service provision and effeciency for the mentee operator (WSSA). A number of topics were identified as areas to be addressed through the WOPs, including: Geographic Information Systems, sewer network management models and electronic document management.

This first technical visit took place in Barcelona from March 14-18 with the objective of initiating trainings and giving a vision of various technical processes in place for the visiting operator staff. Visits covered BCASA’s control centre and a water treatment plan and were complimented by classroom trainings. An institutional welcome was also held at Barcelona’s City Hall.

In addition to technical staff from both operators, the General Director of WSSA took part in the exchange and, from the mentor side, the Director of Planning and Innovation and the Head of Exterior Relations and Innovations were active contributors to the trainings. The exchange included a visit to the GWOPA Secretariat office, as facilitators in this WOP.
